Paul Alessandro, a partner at Hartshorne Plunkard Architecture, and Renae Kwon, Senior Associate at Wiss, Janney, Elstner Associates, will give a presentation entitled Hairpin Lofts: Art Deco Gem Transformation on Thursday, April 18, from 12:15-1:00 PM, at the Chicago Cultural Center, Claudia Cassidy Theater,77 E. Randolph Street, Chicago.
The lecture will detail the transformation of the vacant Morris B. Sachs Building into a “beacon of vitality” for the surrounding neighborhood, through its conversion into the multi-use Hairpin Lofts building. Mr. Alessandro and Ms. Kwon will discuss its exterior masonry restoration and interior rehabilitation using sustainable technologies, which earned the project LEED Gold certification.
